Representation in Global Fora
Business is a solutions provider for our societies’ grand challenges. This is why Business at OECD matches the OECD’s engagement in the Group of Seven (G7) and the Group of Twenty (G20) through the Business Federations of the Group of Seven (B7) and the Business Federations of the Group of Twenty (B20). Business at OECD regularly engages in these global fora as annual Network and Strategic Partners.
Leaders of the world’s 7 major economies meet annually to tackle global challenges as part of the Group of 7 (G7). The Business-7 (B7) dialogue - with Business at OECD’s active involvement - provides the G7 with actionable policy proposals.
Business at OECD acts as a strategic network partner across the B7 Presidencies. Through this high-impact annual platform, Business at OECD outlines what international collaboration can tangibly do to drive economic growth and societal prosperity. Business at OECD is actively supporting the B7 through their network partnership.

At the B20 Summit in Berlin, we addressed participants, highlighting tangible ways to promote competitive markets, trade, and investment. The B20 recommendations were handed over to the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and several Ministers, who also spoke at the event.
Business at OECD also moved the needle on health, where with the B20 Germany presidency, Business at OECD organised a health meeting in Berlin in May 2017 that featured the active participation of the German and Argentinian Health Ministers.
B20 China 2016
With the OECD, Business at OECD hosted the Chinese B20 meetings of task forces, exchanging interim results of the B20 and preparing for the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Hangzhou in September. Over 450 business delegates attended these meetings, which included Business at OECD’s special plenary session, where business, governments, and the OECD’s leaders exchanged views on the importance of business-government dialogue to help achieve G20 impact.
Business at OECD ensured continuity in the B20 process by actively participating in all B20 task forces. Business at OECD also shared positions that were influential in shaping the B20 agenda across themes, and by facilitating meetings with the OECD’s leadership and governments in Paris.
B20 Türkiye 2015
Business at OECD hosted a conference with the OECD of the B20 taskforces in Paris on 2nd June 2015 with over 250 business and government participants, including the OECD’s Ministers, in attendance.
The Conference featured keynote speeches from the OECD’s then Secretary-General Angel Gurria, Business at OECD’s then Secretary-General Bernhard Welschke, and TOBB’s President Rifat Hisarciklioğlu.
Leaders from the six B20 task forces presented their recommendations, followed with feedback from the OECD’s Directors. Participants then engaged in an interactive online voting to prioritise recommendations.
Business at OECD’s then Senior Director, Ali Karami Ruiz, moderated the conference, and he emphasised the need for continuity across B20 and G20 presidencies. Business at OECD also held a Business Access to Global Value Chains and Financing SMEs conference, which brought together representatives from government, finance, and business.

Among the highlights in Sydney was a breakfast meeting we convened with the OECD’s then Secretary-General Angel Gurria and G20 business leaders, hosted by Business at OECD.
Participants were united in the expectation that the OECD will continue to play a major role as a knowledge partner of the G20 on efficient markets, competitiveness, and growth.
