Our institutional role

A trusted partner for the OECD, governments and business alike

For more than six decades, Business at OECD has been the OECD’s institutional private sector stakeholder. Following a decision from the OECD Council in 1962, the Business and Industry Advisory Committee (BIAC) was constituted with “the sole objective of acting as interlocutor for the OECD and facilitating the dialogue between the OECD and the representatives of the business world”. In this unique role, Business at OECD is working closely with the OECD and governments to facilitate dialogue and convey business perspectives, priorities and positions to be reflected in the OECD’s policymaking.

Our mandate, vision, and mission

Mandate: Established in 1962, Business at OECD (BIAC) is the officially recognised institutional business stakeholder at the OECD.
Vision: Business at OECD stands for policies that enable businesses of all sizes to contribute to economic growth, sustainable development, and societal prosperity through global competitiveness.
Mission: Through Business at OECD, business and employers’ federations provide their perspectives to the OECD’s cutting-edge policy debates, shaping market-based economies and global governance.
