Why the OECD’s Work on Latin America and the Caribbean Matters
Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) is a critical region for the world economy. According to the OECD, it combines a GDP of almost USD 6 trillion and a market of 652 million people. In 2016, the OECD’s Ministerial Council Meeting created the OECD LAC Regional Program to support the LAC region in advancing its ambitious reform agenda, which is key to unleashing sustainable economic growth and social development across the region. Furthermore, the OECD is expanding its membership in the region with ongoing accession discussions taking place with Brazil, Argentina, and Peru.

Business at OECD regularly engages with the OECD’s Latin America Division, organize thematic ad-hoc sessions, provide input to the OECD’s accession discussions, and actively participate in the annual OECD LAC Ministerial Summit.
